You could invent a time machine OR you could visit Historic Rugby in east Tennessee during their annual Christmas at Rugby celebrations. Each year, during the first two weekends in December, the Victorian English village transforms into a postcard of the past, stylized as an 1880s celebration as it would’ve happened in the first years of the village’s founding. There are costumed carolers, carriage rides, cookies and wassail; historic home tours, five-course dinners, and concerts into the night.

At the start of 2023, we couldn’t have known we’d end up gracing Rugby’s doorstep during most seasons of the year. But tucked into the breath-taking, inundating nature of the Cumberland Plateau, and with a community-forward, diverse agenda of events, it’s a place that will continue to call you back.
