This park is slightly off-the-beaten path bc it’s not near any major interstates—you go about halfway between Nashville and Memphis and head straight south towards the TN-MS-AL border.

The lake is magnificent (those sunsets!) and the lodge is pretty stellar, too.

Ok, if you don’t already know, Nashville has an amazing system of @greenwaysfornashville that stretch all over the city. Kids will 🩵 to bring their bikes or scooters along!

⏱️1.6 miles round trip
🚶‍♀️Paved surface
🏔️Mostly flat
🌳Mostly sunny (with shady rest stops)
🛝Frankie Pierce Park is on the western end, a great spot to play!
🍅And just 1/3-mile north is the @nashvillefarmersmarket! Add this to your walk and explore @bimalltnsp.

⚠️As a linear path, you can begin at either the western end (Frankie Pierce Park) OR the eastern end at 11th Ave N in the heart of the Gulch. If you’re a local driving to the area, consider starting at the Farmer’s Market to avoid expensive Gulch parking lot fees.

We had the BEST day or riding, playing, and ending with a pizza lunch special at @goodfellaspie!

Easiest vacation ever ✌️

Our three nights at Reelfoot Lake State Park had something for everyone including kids, parents, and grandparents. With plenty of space and amenities in our cabin, we could explore the beauty of the lake knowing we had a comfortable place to return each evening.

We played cards, cooked family meals, took a ranger-led pontoon tour, and sought out the wildlife—including bald eagles!—that calls Reelfoot home.

@reelfootlakestatepark has a fascinating history to discover… and some of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever seen. 😍 We’ve stayed in a lot of @tennesseestateparks cabins on multi-generational family vacays, and, truly, this kind of trip is easy for everyone and gives you a front seat to the beauty of Tennessee nature.

And PRO TIP: Reservations can be booked up to a year in advance! So which Tennessee State Park do you plan to visit next?

✌️ This week wraps up my summer break, and while i

✌️ This week wraps up my summer break, and while it feels audacious that school could start so soon, it’s my 10th week of vacation; I really can’t complain.

It has been the most low-key summer break we’ve had in years—no big trip and no major plans. We took weekend roadtrips. The kids went to camp. We spent a lot of time at home and hung around the neighborhood; we saw friends and family constantly; we swam and hiked and ate at restaurants; the girls made up a secret handshake.

I didn’t see an ocean or a foreign city, and I have no photos of faraway places to share—just a camera roll with a million snapshots of everyday moments and silly expressions.

I’m so often wishing to hop on a plane, to travel without the scheduling obligations of everyday life, but really I know that I could never be a nomad. Home is incomparable. ☺️

(Photos are decidedly NOT from home, nor from this summer, but as much as I enjoyed the last 10 weeks, I really do miss the ocean.)

🌿 This city park has attracted people to its meadows for over 10,000 years…

In the northwestern quadrant of our city, Bells Bend Park is (IMO) an under-utilized mecca of wildlife. During our morning visit, we were the only car in the parking lot!

⏱️2.5-miles on the River Loop Trail, but the park has about 9 miles in its small trail system.
🚶‍♀️Natural, grassy surface
🏔️Very flat (all floodplain!)
🌳Mostly sunny—bring a hat!
🦋The nature center is closed on Mondays, but bathrooms and water are always available!

This park amuses me bc the trails are pretty much just a lawnmower path through meadows. So beautiful and peaceful, and we saw so much wildlife on our walk!
