Hunting for Christmas trees in downtown Nashville! Hunting for Christmas trees in downtown Nashville! 🎄

Plan a walking path that hits the boutique hotels (we usually start at @thefairlanehotel and head down 4th), grab cocktails as needed, end with dinner at @gannonsnashville or @opheliasnashville.

Highly recommend this outing on a weekday evening to avoid the usual downtown crowd. 😵‍💫

The Couchville Lake Loop is one of my favorite (an The Couchville Lake Loop is one of my favorite (and easiest) family hikes, but I’ve never seen the water so low! Apparently, this is a norm for the winter as the lake is fed via underground channels from the Stones River and Percy Priest Lake.

The walk here is 2.1 flat, paved miles with a dozen trail benches as well as restrooms, picnic shelters, and a playground nearby. 10/10 for the whole fam.

Some days when the weather hits a certain way, I m Some days when the weather hits a certain way, I miss New York hard. The ability to leave work and wander aimlessly. The ease of taking a totally different path, or delaying the trip, home.

During this chaotic phase of my life (kids, teaching, etc.), I have a gratitude for the stillness of suburbia—it’s so easy to disconnect and find calm. But there’s so much invigorating energy and beauty in the city when life is playing out before your eyes.

🍂 Also, it’s officially When Harry Met Sally season. Go forth.

Another swoon-worthy Fall Break destination from t Another swoon-worthy Fall Break destination from the archives: Seattle!

🌊 Coastal vibes and activities
🦪 OYSTERS!!

On the first day of this trip, it was 75° and sunny—ideal weather, usually, but not the PNW fall vibes to which we wanted to escape. Fortunately, the nights got cool and clouds rolled, and my Fall Break climate dreams came true.

Seattle was such an easy city to enjoy with kids (even one who was suffering from hand foot mouth disease). I’d take this trip again in a heartbeat!
